Candor goes to Townes

The little love of our life is now 18 months old!  Can you believe it?  A year and a half!?! He still loves for you to read him books.  His new favorite book is The Wheels on the Bus.  Him and Todd read it every night before bed. He loves stickers especially sticking them on his face. He loves the Thinkery.  His favorite room is the water room.  He loves banging the spoons on the pans in the water. He loves doing everything Todd does whether that means shopping for bread or talking through a shopping cone 'megaphone'. He loves toy stores. He loves apple juice. He loves swim class, Mr. John, and diving into the water and making a big splash.  Below is him at the end of this swim session.  He was awarded a ribbon and a cup! Candor Man is now 17 Months old! He has become obsessed with books.  Particularly a Thomas the Train book.  He wants us to read it over and over and over and over. He has FINALLY decided to start eating some different foods as well.  He eats french fries, bananas, toast, and tortilla chips.  He also insists on feeding himself with the spoon.  This becomes quite messy. He loves going to the park and playing in the sand box.  His favorite thing to do is to smash sand castles that you build. He loves shoes and putting them on.  We went to a shoe store the other day and he was adamant on putting on these men's cleats.  After I put them on him he was happy as a lark. We have a new pet cat named Tom.  Every morning he will bring me my IPad and we will feed, bathe, and play with Tom.  Candor thinks Tom is hilarious. Candor is also really loves giving hugs and snuggling up next to you.  It is heavenly.

"When the cats away the mice will play."  That is what I use to say Pre-Candor when Todd would leave town.  This pretty much meant I would sit on the couch and watch all the reality tv I wanted without any judgement. Post-Candor my saying is "When the cats away the mice get sick!". Todd left to go to DC a couple of weekends ago to visit Travis and Molly.  I had mine and Candor's time all planned out.  Friday Cynda (Candor's sitter) was coming and  Todd and I were heading to the opening of the Trail of Lights.  Saturday morning Todd was heading out so Candor and I were going to just hang around and then Saturday night Candor was going to Parent's Night Out for 4 hours.  Sunday we had church.  Monday we were hiking with Kristin and then on Tuesday Candor was going to school! On Friday morning Candor woke up and was breathing so loud.  It was loud enough to really scare Todd and I.  We went to the doctor and Candor had croup.  Dr...

After watching Santa on TV during the Macy's Thanksgiving parade Candor asked if he could go see him in person.  We decided to go the Monday after we got back from Marfa as Todd was off work. The day started off pretty well for Candor.  He woke up, ate, played a bit, and then decided he wanted to lay back down and take a nap. After his nap we headed to the domain.  Todd took a few shots of Candor on his camera so he could practice his smile! Then the big big moment arrived.  We walked in, I sat Candor on Santa's lap and this happened..... He hated Santa!!  I mean seriously despised him. The picture the photographer took was perfectly imperfect.  Santa had the most magical happy face and Candor looked terrified.  It was so awesome we decided to use it as our Christmas card. Maybe Candor will change his attitude by next year...if not we will have another awesome Christmas card for 2016!

For Thanksgiving this year Todd, Candor and I decided to go to Marfa.  Todd has not been able to take a vacation this year due to how busy work has been so it was like a little mini vaca. Marfa is a tiny little town with not much to do which is exactly what we were looking for.  We rented this awesome loft that is right smack in the middle of town.  We did nothing but nap, watch movies, cook, drink coffee, go to book stores, go to the local grocery, and walk around town. My little love muffin is now 16 months old! He has developed quite the little personality.  He knows what he wants and when he wants something he wants it IMMEDIATELY.  A few new fun things he is doing are: 1)  Some nights Todd and are I exhausted and when Candor wakes up in the middle of the night instead of staying up and rocking him we just bring him to bed with us.  In the morning when he wakes he gets out of he bed himself, walks out of the room, and goes straight to the pantry where we keep his food.  He then begins loudly making noises to let us know that he is ready for us to get up and feed him.  I need to get a video of this one morning. 2)  The other night while Todd was rocking Candor to sleep he texted me this... "We've created a monster.  A warm, soft, super cuddly monster.".  Todd is absolutely correct.  Just recently Candor has decided that he only wants to sleep if he is touching one of...

On Thursday Candor's school had a family Thanksgiving feast.  Todd and I went and it was so much fun. Here are the things we learned about Candor from Ms. Maggie and Ms. Lauris. Candor has two nicknames.  The first one is 'Wild Man'.  The second one is 'Zombie Dentist'.    Zombie comes from his Halloween costume and for the fact that he walks around going "ahhhhhhhh" (say that out loud in your best zombie voice - that is what he sounds like).  They added Dentist to the end of Zombie because they said he looks like a much cuter version of Hermey the Dentist from Rudolph the Red nose reindeer.  They said his cherub cheeks,  pretty eyes, and hair reminded him of Hermey.  I had to google Hermey as I had no idea who he was.  I suppose these nicknames are better than rock eater and spider monkey which were two of his friends nicknames.           Hermey the Dentist: Candor has really bon...
